| Quinton was my first borzoi. I bought him from Wind'n Satin Kennels in October '96. And boy did he look funny. I had never seen a borzoi under the age of 6 months, and Quinton was 11 weeks. Well, Quinton was a challenge from day one. He was the master escape artist; if he couldn't go over, he went under, and if he couldn't do any of those; he would just destroy the fence. He was determined to be at the front door, and in the house at all times. Quinton finished his championship in December of '98. Then we moved to Northern Michigan, and we became room-mates. Nothing like living with a 112lb., 35" borzoi in a one bedroom apartment. But Quinton loved the walks along Lake Michigan. And chasing the ducks. After 6 months, we moved back to SC. He then picked up a Group 2, and made the cut at the 2001 Nationals. Well, three weeks after the Nationals he look sick. I spent tons of $$$$$$$$ trying to find out what was wrong with him. I got the horrible news, brain tumor. I entered Quinton in the 2002 Nationals making it his final show. Four weeks before the Nationals his left, front leg began to become numb. I showed him anyways. He loved to show, and I promised him he could go. So if you saw him limping around the Stud Dog Class & the BOB ring, that is why. On July 11th, Quinton's other legs began to fail him. So I took him for that final car ride. He was so happy to be going for a car ride. He held his head out the window & snorted the fresh air. I will never forget my protector and forever friend, Quinton. |
